After a bit of a hiatus — nothing happens in February — On This Day returns with a look back to 2013, the day the Thunder King came. On this day, March 5th, 2013, Patch 5.2: The Thunder King was released. The Thunder King was the apex of Mists of Pandaria; we finally got to take on the Zandalari face to face and had a chance at felling the Thunder King himself. After this, the fight went back to the old lands, to Orgrimmar, and Garrosh.

As he began to unify his people under a single banner and subjugate the other races of Pandaria, he knew that the mantid would never succumb to his authority. They spoke his language, the language of strength. He commanded his slaves to construct the Serpent's Spine, a magnificent wall that spanned the length of the empire. It would take many generations to build. But Lei Shen knew how to motivate his subjects. Fear. Fear of the mantid moved mountains, raised armies, secured his empire, and built his wall. — Patch Notes: Patch 5.2 New Raid: Throne of ThunderThrone of Thunder was the penultimate raid of Mists of Pandaria.
