The last twenty years have seen Sony cultivate one of the most popular and diverse exclusives libraries in gaming, featuring titles like the cinematic Uncharted series or the sci-fi misadventures of Ratchet & Clank. However, the series some players may argue is head and shoulders above all other PlayStation exclusives is the God of War games from Santa Monica Studio, which has been a mainstay on PlayStation platforms since the original title hit shelves on March 22, 2005. The date is not lost on the studio, either, which took the time to highlight the series' 17th anniversary and thank its community for supporting the series for all these years across six different PlayStation platforms.
The original God of War follows Kratos as he seeks revenge against Ares, the Greek god of war, who tricked Kratos into killing his own wife and daughter while in his servitude. Kratos' journey takes him across a ravaged Athens and Pandora's temple in search of a power capable of killing Ares, receiving aid from the other Olympians along the way. Subsequent games would pit Kratos against the likes of Zeus, Gaia, the Fates, and others as he ravages the Greek pantheon before moving on to the Norse realms and gods in 2018's God of War.

The accompanying piece of art spotlights the series' time in Ancient Greece across six games on PS2, PS3, PSP, and PSVita. In addition, Santa Monica also made sure to shout out Ready at Dawn in the comments for its work on the series' mobile entries, Chains of Olympus and Ghost of Sparta.
