Octopath Traveler 2 will reportedly be made available through Game Pass this month.
That’s according to eXputer, which claims the original Octopath Traveler could also be added to Microsoft’s subscription service.
Coinciding with Microsoft’s Tokyo Game Show broadcast last September, Square Enix announced plans to bring its RPG sequel to Xbox consoles and Windows PC in “early 2024”, but this has yet to happen.
A release date and potential Game Pass announcement could be confirmed when the Xbox Games Showcase – the first to include games across Activision Blizzard, Bethesda, and Xbox Game Studios – takes place on June 9.
Octopath Traveler was released in 2018 and has sold over three million copies across Nintendo Switch, PC, Xbox One and Stadia, according to Square Enix.
It released Octopath Traveler 2 in February 2023 for Switch, PS4, PS5, and PC via Steam.
According to Square Enix, “Octopath Traveler 2 improves upon the series’ iconic HD-2D visuals: a striking blend of retro 2D characters in a beautiful 3D world.
“The game’s new storyline, characters and features make it the perfect entry for newcomers to the series, while also preserving the charm of the original game for veteran players.
“Players can look forward to following the journey of eight distinct protagonists as they explore the land and conquer enemies in strategic turn-based battles on an adventure all their own.”
