During their PTR Season 4 Campfire Chat, Blizzard announced that the amount of affixes on Rare and Legendary items will be reduced in Diablo 4 Season 4. Rare items will have 2 instead of 4 affixes, and Legendary items will have 3 instead of 4 affixes.

With this change, Diablo 4's development team tries to tackle several issues around itemization, which have been around since the game's launch.

Together with the consolidation of affixes, which will also be happening in Season 4, Blizzard hopes to make items feel more powerful while being easier to read. Below you can see how the change will affect an item tooltip visually:
