Nomura Says There Are No Plans To Remake Or Remaster Dirge Of Cerberus And Before Crisis
Tetsuya Nomura has confirmed that there aren't plans to remake or remaster Dirge of Cerberus or Before Crisis.
After it was revealed the Crisis Core would be getting the remaster treatment in the form of Crisis Core Reunion, Final Fantasy fans quickly started spectating that the whole of the Final Fantasy 7 compilation series would be getting remade in some form or another, leaving just Dirge of Cerberus and Before Crisis to get remade next. That doesn't seem to be the plan, however.

In an interview with Famitsu, as translated by aitaikimochi, Nomura was asked whether other games in the Final Fantasy 7 compilation series will get the same remake treatment as Crisis Core. Nomura revealed that, although the team actually did want to reintroduce these titles, there are currently no plans because of how much it would cost.
Nomura said, "Our staff really wanted to do a remaster of Dirge of Cerberus as well as Before Crisis FF7, but after taking into consideration the costs of doing so, we do not have plans at this time. We wanted them to show up in Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade because we wanted all of the Final Fantasy 7 titles to be connected with a common world. They also appeared as very formidable bosses, so that's why we settled on that."
If you're unaware of what the Final Fantasy 7 compliation is, it's essentially a group of works created in the Final Fantasy 7 universe, including Crisis Core, Dirge of Cerberus. Advent Children, and Before Crisis. With Crisis Core getting a remaster, it just leaves Before Crisis and Dirge of Cerberus as the main two products of that compilation not being remade in some way.
That might be for the best, though.
