The rumors regarding the remaster of Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII being delayed for years due to legal issues have officially been debunked by the developers of the game. The reason these rumors exist is that Crisis Core featured the voice and likeness of Gackt, a famous Japanese musician, who played the role of Genesis Rhapsodos in Crisis Core and briefly in Dirge of Cerberus: FF7's secret ending.
Genesis Rhapsodos is an important part of the story of Crisis Core Reunion. He was one of Sephiroth's few friends and rivals within SOLDIER, partly due to the two of them being the result of scientific experiments involving Jenova cells, making them more powerful than average humans. Genesis quickly defects from SOLDIER and becomes one of the antagonists in Crisis Core Reunion, having numerous run-ins with Zack Fair. Genesis' appearance in Dirge of Cerberus is actually the final moment in the FF7 timeline (not counting the Red XIII flash-forward at the end of FF7), where he saves Weiss the Immaculate, and the two fly off together, for a cliffhanger that has yet to be resolved.
