Last year at Apple's WWDC 2022 event, Hello Games' announced that No Man's Sky will be coming to the Mac and iPad by the end of the year, While the flagship title did not see daylight last year, the game is finally available on Apple's notebooks and desktops. A few days ago, company founder Sean Murray tweeted a pair of Apple emojis on Twitter. We previously speculated that the title could be coming to Apple's rumored AR Headset at the WWDC event. According to Hello Games, No Man's Sky will be available for the Mac starting today. The game will feature all content updates that have been released in the past seven years, suggesting that the game will be feature-packed and ready. If you are interested in getting your hands on the title, it is optimized for Macs with Apple Silicon and some Intel-based Macs. Additionally, the title also features a new rendering pipeline that works flawlessly with Metal.
As mentioned earlier, No Man's Sky comes with support for cross-play, allowing Mac users to join players from Xbox 1, Xbox X, Sbox S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PC, as well as VR. Take note that the title already supports VR compatibility which means that it could be announced for Apple's AR Headset on Monday at Apple's WWDC 2023 event.
In terms of performance, No Man's Sky is optimized for the Mac's internal SSD which will allow faster load times. With support for MetalFX Upscaling and Meta 3, the title will potentially deliver graphical performance on par with gaming consoles.
