Mario maker Nintendo has announced that it will not attend the Los Angeles-based Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2023.
The platform holder formally confirmed its absence from this year's show with IGN.
In a statement to the publication, Nintendo said, "We approach our involvement in any event on a case-by-case basis and are always considering various ways to engage with our fans. Since this year's E3 show didn't fit into our plans, we have made the decision to not participate."
The gaming firm added that it will continue to support the event and the Entertainment Software Association.
The news comes nearly a month after it was reported that Xbox, Sony, and Nintendo would have little to no presence during the event. However, Microsoft did confirm it will host a physical presentation of its upcoming games this summer.
E3 2023 marks the first time since 2019 that the show has been in person; the last three years were digital showcases due to the pandemic.
E3 will run from Tuesday, June 13, to Friday, June 16, at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
ReedPop, the parent company of GamesIndustry.biz, is organizing this year's event.
