The Nintendo Switch Online subscription service announced its «Expansion Pack» last year with one headlining addition: a library of games from the Nintendo 64 to match NES and SNES offerings. Another library for Sega Genesis games and access to DLC such as Animal Crossing: New Horizons' Happy Home Paradise and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe's Booster Course Pass have rounded out this more expensive subscription tier. However, N64 games are particularly weighty given its back-catalog has been requested for years alongside Switch Online libraries for handheld consoles like the Game Boy.
Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack launched in October 2021 with access to nine N64 games, including classics such as Super Mario 64, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, and Star Fox 64. Yet fans also knew seven additional games were planned in the first «wave» of support. The Switch Online release of Pokemon Snap on June 24 will mark its final N64 addition revealed prior to the Expansion Pack's launch. While NES and SNES additions have arrived with no build-up, Nintendo should reveal a second wave of support with some popular titles to keep subscribers invested.
