Readers discuss the games they’re most looking forward to in the coming months and years, including God Of War and Sonic Frontiers.
The subject for this week’s Hot Topic was suggested by reader Campbell, based on the fact that the E3 announcement season is now over and most of the games for this year have now been announced.
Although it’s a smaller range than usual, there were plenty of 2022 games that people were excited about, although 2023 titles such as Starfield and Zelda: Breath Of The Wild 2 seemed to get the most mentions.
A packed year I think everyone realises it’s a pretty quiet looking Christmas (gotta love that stupid Bayonetta 3 release date!) but I think there are some gems in there. I’d love to say the game I’m most looking forward to is XCOM 3, since it’s just about the only game from the Nvidia leak yet to be confirmed.
Midnight Suns will do very well while I wait though, as it seems to be a similar sort of game and Firaxis are obvious well practised at strategy games. For similar reasons I’m also interested in Mario + Rabbids Sparks Of Hope, as the original was really good.
The Callisto Protocol also has my interest, although I’m a little concerned it may be a bit too gory and charmless for me. There’s a reason Resident Evil is so beloved and it’s because it’s scary but also quite goofy, so it doesn’t end up leaving you depressed when you play it.
If we’re talking about most anticipated game regardless of release date though it’s got to be Zelda: Breath Of The Wild 2. I’ve no idea when it’ll be out but I’ll be there day zero when it is, no questions asked.Wildfire
