A fan-made Dragon Ball Z film entitled Legend: A Dragon Ball Tale encapsulates everything fans have come to love about the anime. Created by Akira Toriyama, the beloved Japanese media franchise began as a manga before spawning several anime series and films. Its story follows Goku, a.k.a Kakarot, who was sent to Earth as an infant right before the destruction of his Sayian homeworld, Planet Vegeta. Following a fateful head injury, Goku abandons the intent to conquer and, instead, grows up to become the universe’s greatest warrior alongside his friends and family.

In recent years, the IP has enjoyed a resurgence in pop culture with the Dragon Ball Super anime and the ongoing manga, which takes place after Dragon Ball Z's Buu saga. Following the conclusion of the Tournament of Power, Super’s anime has continued in theaters with 2018’s Dragon Ball Super: Broly and the upcoming follow-up film, Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero. As fans await the arrival of Super Hero stateside (not to mention the return of its flagship series), a new fan film is here to remind audiences why they fell in love with the anime in the first place.
