, the new fantasy Victorian-era-inspired survival title that challenges players to re-think the survival genre, has a few interesting quirks that make it stand out among its peers, one of which happens right in the character-creator of the game. Unlike other character creators in modern games that rely on sliders to adjust certain aspects of one's face, the Ancestry tab in asks people to fill out an entire family tree or Lineage.
That said, filling out every pre-determined grandparent and parent for each side of the family can actually be a pretty arduous task, especially after designing all of the other aspects of the character to fulfill one's role-playing goals. In addition, it's not entirely clear what filling in the entire family tree even does or whether it has an impact later on in the game. Luckily, it's not as complicated as it seems, and the answer to the question is actually quite simple at the moment.
In, Lineage is merely a part of the character creator that's within the Ancestry tab and slightly adjusts the options on the facial sliders within the game. After the tutorial portion of the game is complete,Lineage does not affect gameplay outside of minor adjustments to the player-characters model. Instead, Lineage affects the Inheritance tab inside of the character creator. In the end, spending time on filling out every spot on the Lineage may not be worth it, especially if one is already satisfied with how their character looks.
Once each side of the character's Lineage is filled in, it's possible to adjust the facial slider in the Inheritance tab to resemble either a parent or grandparent more. Though it's not entirely clear how these adjustments precisely affect the face, playing around with it can have some unintended hilarious results. Much like the card system borrowed from roguelike games, using this feature to adjust one's face is something to get used to.
