VR fans galore as two modders have created a WoW VR mod that adds support for VR to the final patch of World of Warcraft Wrath of the Lich King.
Created by modders 'StreetRat' and 'Marulu', this VR mod is an experimental release for World of Warcraft patch 3.3.5a (the last patch for Wrath of the Ling King released in 2010). As mentioned by the duo, there are no plans for active development of the mod, but if there's enough interest from the community, the duo might look at implementing first-person mount visibility and player character IK. As noted by the modder, the mod should be used seated with VR motion controllers. It's an interesting mod for World of Warcraft fans that also happen to be into VR. Truth be told, it does add a new dimension to the MMO, but we prefer to play the game in the original third-person view.
Being an experimental release, the mod does suffer from some issues, including head-tracked leaning not being accurate on ships, elevators, and zeppelins. Headset flickering during loading screens. Certain UI elements might be displayed with a black background. In addition, the VR UI might appear as a very low resolution on 1080p displays. Also, players can't turn the camera using the right stick while using a flight path.
We've included a video of the mod in action below alongside the mod's main features:
