A new found-footage horror film, Shelby Oaks, written and directed by film critic Chris Stuckmann, has become Kickstarter’s most-funded horror movie. Stuckmann has spent over a decade building an online following via his YouTube channel, where he has amassed almost 2 million subscribers who regularly tune in for his reviews on current releases. He has also spent this time directing and writing several short films, building his skills as a filmmaker as he progresses toward his upcoming feature, a found footage film based on an internet mystery about a group of paranormal investigators who go missing.

Now,Deadline report that Shelby Oaks has become Kickstarter’s most-funded horror film after starting a fundraiser at the beginning of March. The film is reported to have raised over $650,000 from 6,700 backers, making well above its target of $250,000 with several days of the campaign still to go. Producer Aaron B. Koontz affirms that “every dollar we are raising is going onto the screen” and lays out plans for backers to witness and be involved with the production of the film in the quote below:
I’m really excited to pull the curtain back and show the ups and downs of how an indie film really gets made. This isn’t a raise funds and then we leave everyone behind to go make it. We want to create a community that can come along with us on the journey.
