Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 has broken a world record that was previously held by The Grinch. The news comes just over a year before the James Gunn film is set to be released in theaters.
Guardians of the Galaxy is Marvel's team of galactic heroes that get into all kinds of trouble and saves the universe from time to time. They quickly became one of Marvel fans' favorite characters following their galactic MCU debut. Once they met the Avengers, fans loved the interactions between all of these personalities in one place. The upcoming Vol. 3 will unfortunately be the last film for this team, but hopefully there's a way for them to come back in a future Marvel project.
Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy’s Disappointing Sales Should Not Stop a Sequel From Happening
Gunn announced that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 passed the world record for «the most makeup appliances created for a single production.» The director said he heard the news from Legacy Effects and went on to highlight those who keep practical effects alive, which is the alternative to computer generated effects. On the bright side, the movie breaking a record should tell fans what they can expect to see in the final film. It looks like there will be a lot of scars or prosthetics for the impending battles in Vol. 3, which means that the film will look amazing when fans see it in theaters, and it won't only be CGI. Many films typically rely on computer enhanced technology to achieve different effects, so it'll be a breath of fresh air to see how they achieve the task of creating this world using practical effects.
It will be a cool Easter egg for fans to spot and point out each instance where a special effect is utilized while also noticing the practical effects.
