A brand-new Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness trailer has been released, which might include a link to Marvel's What If...? As its title suggests, the Sam Raimi-directed sequel will see Benedict Cumberbatch's sorcerer traveling through various realities as he deals with the ramifications of his actions in Spider-Man: No Way Home. One of the realities he might find himself in was previously featured in the MCU's first animated series.
Marvel Studios' fourth show on Disney+ imagines how the Infinity Saga may have changed if one element in it panned out differently. While What If...? started with separate narratives, they all ultimately converged towards the end via a culminating narrative. In it, the Watcher (Jeffrey Wright) was forced to meddle after the Infinity Stones-powered Ultron (Ross Marquand) discovered the existence of other realities, motivating him to conquer them as well. Luckily, the Guardians of the Multiverse succeeded in defeating the villain. But despite that, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness might feature one of those animated settings in the sequel.
