For better or worse, Sasuke and Sakura are among Naruto's most important couples, but Boruto proves they're much better apart. Though Sakura and Sasuke might be getting their own Naruto spinoff book, it's evident from the sequel series that their relationship has some serious problems.
Ever since her introduction, Sakura has been obsessed with Sasuke. This led to much of Sakura's character development in the first part of Naruto being focused on her learning to be independent from others and, more specifically, Sasuke. Unfortunately for her, not only would her feelings for Sasuke never really fade, his disinterest in her would eventually evolve into bitter resentment. Sasuke once infamously tried to kill Sakura when she had her back turned to him, though he would later apologize for this. By the end of Naruto, Sasuke had finally seen the light and seemingly made amends. It all set the stage for him to not only be a better person but more specifically a good partner for Sakura. Unfortunately, that's not how things turn out by the time of Boruto.

Taking place twelve years after Naruto, Borutofollows the next generation of ninja. Sakura and Sasuke are married in this future and have a daughter together named Sarada. Unfortunately for Sarada though, she barely knows Sasuke at all, as he has been away on missions throughout much of her life. Despite her marriage, Sakura has basically been forced to raise Sarada as a single parent. Worse yet, Sakura feels compelled to cover for Sasuke's past, often refusing to answer Sarada's questions that might clue her into the fact that Sasuke essentially committed war crimes.
