MultiVersus just announced in its new launch trailer that horror legend Jason Voorhees is slashing his way onto the roster alongside Agent Smith. Get ready to watch the hockey mask behind Friday the 13th cut up all your favourite childhood icons.
This isn't Jason's first fighting game. He appeared in Mortal Kombat X as a DLC guest character back in 2015.
We also see Titan Tower when Wonder Woman fights her variants, and behind her Robin's face appears on a screen, hinting that the squad of DC sidekicks might be coming to MultiVersus in the future, too.
Jason and Agent Smith aren't the only new characters joining the roster. Developer Player First recently revealed that the Joker and, controversially, Adventure Time's Banana Guard are coming to the game. It's a diverse spread, to say the least.
At the end of the trailer, we see Joker leading the charge against the heroes, summoning Jason and Agent Smith while he sits on the Iron Throne. But there are four other multiversal swirls, teasing even more movie characters--likely villains. Who they are, we don't know yet.
Horror, Inc. recently launched the "Jason Universe", and one of the only accounts it follows right now is Fortnite , so we might see Voorhees dropping from the battle bus too .
Fans are digging through the trailer already and have uncovered a bunch of easter eggs, such as Aquaman's Trident, what might be Samurai Jack's katana, a broomstick, and the Bubbles toy from The Powerpuff Girls.
MultiVersus launches in just over a week on May 28.
Bringing together characters from your favourite cartoons, movie series, and more, MultiVersus is a new take on the platform fighter genre. From Batman to Bugs Bunny, Arya Stark to LeBron James, there's somebody for everyone to get their hands on.
