A new update has arrived from the Vita3K team, for the emulator’s Android build, and we’ve been eager to see what surprises it holds.
Vita3K’s Android v8 update brings with it some impressive new features that we didn’t expect to find. It may be October, but there are definitely more treats than tricks here.
First of all, motion sensors in controllers now work. That means if your controller of choice has a gyro you can take full advantage of that. This is alongside improved controller support overall.
Tired of going into the emulator each time you want to start a title? Well, now you can create shortcuts directly from your home screen with the game’s title and icons.
There’s now a render accuracy option, and an option to configure memory mapping for each different game.
A rewrite of the texture cache architecture sets out to fix a bug that caused games to slow down progressively over time. Improved memory trapping to tackle freezing issues when the double buffer was used. This is alongside a fix to some overall FMV flickering issues.
This all comes with a rich assortment of minor fixes and general performance improvements that should make your emulation game a bit smoother.
Vita3K is a PlayStation Vita emulator, with versions on Windows, macOS, Linux, and most recently, and importantly, Android devices.
Some of the titles currently playable on the emulator include Persona 4: Golden, and Legend Of Heroes: Trails Of Cold Steel. On the official Discord, there’s even extensive work on making Uncharted: Golden Abyss, and Killzone: Mercenary viable on Vita3K, so watch that space for updates there.
