The very first Mortal Kombat game released October 8, 1998, kicking off one of the gaming industry's longest-running fighting game franchises. That also makes 2022 the year of Mortal Kombat's 30th anniversary, an event that hasn't been very loudly celebrated by Warner Bros. Interactive or NetherRealm Studios. The publisher and developer may still have plans in store, however. A leaked product on Amazon confirmed that there's an upcoming Mortal Kombat 30th Anniversary Ultimate Bundle being made.
The leaked product appeared on Amazon first and was initially reported on by YouTube channel TrueUnderDawgGaming. A screenshot revealed a retail listing for Mortal Kombat: The 30th Anniversary Ultimate Bundle for the PS5, with a surprisingly low price of £29.99. The bundle includes Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate, a copy of theMortal Kombat film from 2021, and an exclusive Steelbook box. A tentative release date for the product, which will likely also release for PC and Xbox platforms, is listed as September 26, 2022.

A positive takeaway from the discovery of the Mortal Kombat 30th Anniversary Ultimate Bundle is that it's indicative of plans yet to be announced by Warner Bros. and NetherRealm. Mortal Kombat fans have been worried that the anniversary would go by without mention. This is clear evidence to the contrary. Whether there will be a bigger Mortal Kombat event filled with more announcements remains to be seen, but at least something is coming.
