Week after week, Ubisoft and the Assassin's Creed community have been celebrating each of the mainline games in the franchise. This is to celebrate the franchise's fifteenth birthday, and soon, Ubisoft will be turning its eyes to the future of the franchise. It promised a «future of Assassin's Creed» reveal in September, with that seemingly taking place during the Ubisoft Forward on September 10.
There are two major projects fans know of: the confirmed Assassin's Creed Infinity and the reported-and-all-but confirmed Assassin's Creed Rift. The latter has been said to go back to basics and be focused on Basim, but a new leak seemingly sheds more light on the upcoming title.

YouTuber J0nathan has previously leaked Assassin's Creed information, with many of his them eventually proving true. Now, according to J0nathan, the official name (as Rift is a codename) is Assassin's Creed Mirage, and it'll release in Spring 2023. It will take place between 860 and 870 AD in Baghdad, during the Anarchy of Samarra. Basim begins as a young thief before being folded into the Hidden Ones, with there being multiple cities to explore. It features gameplay described as a return to basics, with several RPG elements of later Assassin's Creed games being removed like dialogue and level systems. Eagle vision returns as well, although there will also be a bird, and Basim will utilize a mechanic known as the String Dagger.
