There's a possibility that CD Projekt Red will be creating a brand-new The Witcher saga. With Cyberpunk 2077 recently getting some DLC based on the upcoming anime adaptation, the Polish studio is evidently keeping busy not only with new projects, but with its current games as well. While the reputation of the developer has fallen somewhat since the disastrous launch of its open-world sci-fi title in 2020, many will no doubt be looking forward to what's on offer for future Witcher games.
Last month, CD Projekt Red celebrated turning 20 years old, offering up all its games at discounted prices. What's interesting about this studio is that it didn't start out making games. It began life in the mid 90s as a company that specialized in importing PC games into Poland, which at the time did not have a strong gaming market. It was in 2002 that it decided to become a developer, with its first outing being an adaptation of Andrzej Sapkowski's fantasy novels, which would become the first Witcher game, something that CDPR has been known for ever since.

While the new game in the series is currently in pre-production and will represent the first installment from the team to utilize the Unreal Engine, a report from PC gamer states that the studio may have plans for more than one new game. During a financial earnings call, CD Projekt Red CEO Adam Kiciński said that the first three games were a saga, so the team is considering beginning a new one with the fourth installment. It's perhaps too early to say for certain, but Kiciński discussing the possibility of a new saga certainly suggests that more than one new The Witcher game could be on the horizon.
