Capcom confirms that it will launch more Resident Evil remakes beyond Resident Evil 4. This comes after the first three remakes have proven massively successful, prompting Capcom to keep the trend going and bring back more of its older titles.
It doesn't reveal which game is next, but the obvious candidates are either Resident Evil 5 or Resident Evil - Code: Veronica. So far, Code: Veronica has been skipped, as Capcom went straight from Resident Evil 3 to 4, but with remakes being the main focus right now, it's possible the studio will circle back around to re-releasing the often-overlooked title.
This comes from an interview with IGN, with Resident Evil 4 Remake director Yasuhiro Anpo confirming this direction for the studio.
"We've released three remakes so far and they have all been received very well," says Anpo. "Since it allows a modern audience to play these games, it is something I am happy to do as someone that loves these older games, and we want to continue doing more."
Resident Evil 4 Remake launched almost three years after Resident Evil 3 Remake. The gap between the first two remakes was a little over a year, however, so it's not clear how long we'll have to wait for the next game, whatever that ends up being.
As for what game is next, Anpo isn't giving us any clues. "What game we will remake in the future is something that we would like to announce in the future, so please look forward to it."
Right now, fans largely believe that Resident Evil 5 is the next up to get a remake. This theory has become even more popular after some say it was teased in the Separate Ways expansion for Resident Evil 4.
