Players familiar to the Diablo franchise, in particular Diablo 3, may have fond memories of mini-pets zipping around screen gathering your gold for you. After all, what's better than having a companion vacuum up all the gold you don't want to walk back and grab? Many players were understandably disappointed that their favorite pets wouldn't be coming with them into the Diablo 4 world — but, as Diablo General Manager Rod Fergusson says, «never say never.»
In an interview with TRG, Fergusson said the team is a «never say never» team when it comes to additions, including the possibility of mini-pets.

Fergusson had quite a bit to say on the philosophy of Diablo 4's development during TRG's interview, including realizing that the feel of Diablo 3, with flashy cosmetics and sometimes absurd pets, wouldn't add to the feel of despair and terror Diablo 4 was going for on release. Fergusson had this to say on the matter:
