The controversial Minecraft mob vote is finally over with armadillo claiming victory over penguin and crab, but that hasn't stopped the still-mounting backlash.
If you haven't kept up with Minecraft's latest discourse, fans finally hit breaking point with mob votes after six years, demanding things change or the concept be scrapped entirely. For context, every year as of 2017, Mojang reveals three mob concepts and asks fans to vote on which one they most want to see added to the game. The idea is to get the community talking and collaborating, but instead, it splits players into camps with YouTubers and streamers rallying their audiences behind their votes. With two incredibly useful utilities tied to two of the mobs this year, the frustration burst.

The armadillo will come with dog armour, but the crab would have allowed players to place blocks at a further distance. As such, fans weren't just voting on which creature is the cutest, but which of two highly-requested features they wanted adding to the game. The vote is over and the armadillo is trodding along to the blocky dunes of Minecraft, leaving behind the sea of propaganda spoofs and viral petitions, but fans are still pushing Mojang to make this the last mob vote in the game's history.
A common complaint is that the three-way vote is unfair. Many have put forward that, while the armadillo got 42.3 percent of the votes and won, over half of the community will still be upset with the outcome, making the armadillo voters the true minority.
This is the case with any poll, but some have suggested that a change is needed in the structure to make it fairer, such as lowering the number of mobs to two.
