Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 has endured a troubled launch, with a large number of players being unable to even get into the game. Microsoft says that server issues have been resolved, but the backlash has nonetheless resulted in the game being hit with an “Overwhelmingly Negative” user rating on Steam, with only 18 percent of the 3,000-plus user ratings on the platform being positive at the time of writing.
All of that is, unsurprisingly, being reflected in the game’s player numbers on the platform. As per SteamDB, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 has seen a peak of 24,863 concurrent players on Steam at the time of writing, which is a decent figure in isolation, but significantly lower than what 2020’s Microsoft Flight Simulator saw at its peak (over 61,000 concurrent players).
It is, of course, the middle of the week, while the aforementioned technical issues have also clearly held the game back. Whether we can expect the player numbers to climb much higher over the coming days, especially as patches and fixes are rolled out, should be worth keeping an eye on.
Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 is available on Xbox Series X/S and PC.
