While Atlus has seen its fastest-selling game ever in Persona 3 Reload, it has another heavy-hitter this year with Studio Zero’s Metaphor: ReFantazio. It’s available to wishlist in certain regions on the PlayStation Store and Xbox Store (as noted by Gematsu on Twitter), and there are new details on what players can expect.
Set in the United Kingdom of Euchronia, a tournament is underway to crown the next King following the assassination of the previous one. Players control an Elda boy who campaigns for the role, with various allies (including a fairy named Gallica) helping him. The developer teased that time is limited, and as revealed on PlayStation Store Hong Kong, it’s very similar to Persona 3, 4 and 5.
Players can embark on quests, tackle dungeons and “hunt for treasures” during the day while strengthening relationships, building bonds and increasing “virtues” by night. “Choose your actions wisely. Time management is key to achieving your goal.” Other details for the battle system and Archetypes are included, alongside teasing that the “high-stakes Royal Tournament” would provide “hours of captivating exploration and discovery.”
Metaphor: ReFantazio is out this Fall for PS4, PS5, PC and Xbox Series X/S. It’s also rumored for the Nintendo Switch 2.
