In the world of video games, Metal Gear Solid is known for having some of the best villains and boss fights, and two that were cut from the game met a fairly simple end.
As the franchise's most infamous entry, there are many details aboutMetal Gear Solid 2 that only die-hard fans know. The sequel was notable for taking the spotlight off of Solid Snake and putting it on Raiden as he infiltrated the facility known as Big Shell. It had been taken over by an anti-terrorist organization gone rogue called Dead Cell, which consisted of four different members. Their names were Fortune, Vamp, Fatman, and Solidus Snake. However, behind the scenes information on the game revealed there were two scrapped members of the unit called Old Boy and Chinaman. Although those two scrapped villains were never named in the game, there was some dialogue that mentioned members of Dead Cell who had died six months prior to the game's events. Fans always assumed Old Boy and Chinaman were the two characters mentioned, but this wasn't confirmed until the comic adaptation of the game.

In the book, which was written by Alex Garner and illustrated by Ashley Wood, there is an ensemble piece of Dead Cell that includes those two characters, officially confirming the fan theory that Old Boy and Chinaman were the two characters that died. This comic was also notable for expanding the backstory of Metal Gear Solid 2 villain Fatman by introducing his rival Little Boy. While the comic's nature as a tie-in might make these details appear inconsequential, the comic is considered fully canon within the Metal Gear Solid timeline.
