Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has taken to Instagram to share new behind-the-scenes images from his final week of reshoots on DC’s Black Adam. A film that is being touted as a major shift in the hierarchy of power in the DC universe, Johnson stars as the magical anti-hero Teth-Adam (a.k.a. Black Adam) who was imprisoned for 5,000 years. Destined to become the arch-nemesis of the superhero Shazam, Black Adam is the original wizard’s champion and shares the same powers enjoyed by Billy Batson. Originally, Black Adam was planned to be the primary antagonist of 2019’s Shazam!, but the decision was made to split the project in two and allow Johnson an opportunity to headline his own solo film before the two characters met.
Originally set for release in December last year, delays due to the Coronavirus pandemic initially pushed the film’s premiere back to July 2022. However, in order to accommodate the workload of the film’s visual effects team, Warner Bros. adjusted their release schedule again, this time pushing the release date back to October 21. While this news was no doubt frustrating for fans, it did allow Johnson to return for some last-minute reshoots.

Now it would seem that work on the film is very nearly complete, with Johnson taking to Instagram to share set photos from the reshoots. Johnson captioned the photos saying it was the “Final work week of finishing touches for BLACK ADAM⚡️with my director, Jaume Collet-Serra.” He also plugged the upcoming international trailer release due on June 8.
