Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol.1 is likely to get resolution options on PC thanks to modders soon, judging from some discoveries made only a few hours after the game launched on Steam.
As reported on the ResetEra forums, it has been discovered where resolutions are defined in the .exe files of the games included in the collection. Someone forced 4K resolution in Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, sharing a screenshot as well, but it will take some time to test if anything gets broken by forcing higher resolutions than officially supported.
Even if forcing higher resolutions could lead to some visual issues, there's no denying that Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol.1 really needs resolution options, as all games apparently render at 720p upscaled to 1080p, resulting in poor visual quality.
The Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol.1 includes the first three entries in the series, originally released on PlayStation consoles, as well as Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2. A second volume of the collection, including titles like Peace Walker and the fourth entry in the series, which is still a PlayStation 3 exclusive to this day, has been heavily hinted at but has yet to be officially confirmed, so it seems like it will eventually be possible to enjoy the entirety of the series on modern gaming hardware in the future.
The Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol.1 is now available on PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S worldwide.
