The Summer Game Fest showcase itself may have been a disappointment, but the surrounded event — which lasts the whole weekend — does mean that we get to see fresh gameplay from a number of highly promising titles.
One such game is Metaphor: ReFantazio, the superb-looking RPG from Atlus. Up until now, we've only seen edited gameplay clips from the developer's deep dive videos, but IGN got the team on stage to present over ten minutes of raw footage from the title's opening sequence.
The video gives us a slightly better idea of the game's structure, as it moves between character dialogue, dungeon exploration, and turn-based combat.
How do you think Metaphor is shaping up ahead of its October release? Grab a sword and make your move in the comments section below.
Robert (or Rob if you're lazy) has been a fan of PlayStation since the 90s, when Tekken 2 introduced him to the incredible world of video games. He still takes his fighting games seriously, but RPGs are his true passion. The Witcher, Persona, Dragon Quest, Mass Effect, Final Fantasy, Trails, Tales — he's played 'em all. A little too much, some might say.
Nothing thrills me like sitting down to watch raw footage of a JRPG.

Can't believe there's no dating in this one
