Insomniac Games was recently hit with a ransomware attack, following which internal documents from the studio have begun appearing online, leaking details on a number of unannounced plans for future titles.
As per these plans, as shared by a user on ResetEra, Insomniac is indeed working on Marvel’s Venom, as many had hoped it would. The game, which is seemingly targeting late 2025 launch window, will be a shorter, 8-10-hour standalone experience, according to a leaked internal presentation. Similar to the shorter standalone experience Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, the Venom game will seemingly be priced at $50.
As per the leak, the game will allow players to switch between a playable Venom and “Spider-Heroes”, and will feature Carnage as the primary antagonist. The leak claims that the game will feature a dozen main quests, three bosses, and additional optional content. It will supposedly be set after the events of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, and lead into the events of Marvel’s Spider-Man 3.
Speaking of which, Marvel’s Spider-Man 3 is also in development, as per the leak, and is targeting a release sometime in late 2028. Meanwhile, a slide from the aforementioned leaked internal presentation also reveals a scrapped multiplayer Spider-Man project that Insomniac pitched to Marvel. Called Marvel’s Spider-Man: The Great Web, it is described in the presentation as a Grand Theft Auto Online-style MMO experience with microtransactions. A recent leak seemed to suggest that Insomniac was working on a Spider-Verse game, though it’s unknown if that is the multiplayer project being referred to here.
