A new Marvel's Avengers animated video reveals the origins and voice of Jane Foster, who will soon join the game's roster as the Mighty Thor. Crystal Dynamics' multiplayer Marvel title has an ever-expanding roster of iconic heroes including Captain America, Iron Man, Black Widow and Black Panther. Marvel's Avengers announced Jane Foster back in April, and the hammer-wielding Goddess of Thunder is finally set to arrive in-game on June 28.
While the game has been highly criticized since launch, Crystal Dynamics continues to support Marvel's Avengers through the release of free post-launch updates. Since release the game has received four brand-new heroes, with Spider-Man swinging in as a PlayStation-exclusive character. Each new Marvel icon has been accompanied by additional storylines and quests, with the Black Panther — War for Wakanda expansion being the biggest piece of post-launch Marvel' Avengers content to date. Smaller updates have also made their way into the title, too, with the Marvel's Avengers 2.4 patch recently improving the game's events and limited-time rewards.

An animated Marvel's Avengers trailer, posted to Twitter, reveals the origins of the game's version of Jane Foster. In an alternate timeline where Thor disappeared and Odin the All-Father went mad, Mjolnir chooses Jane Foster to become the Mighty Thor. This version of Jane has fought cancer, like her comic counterpart, and to defeat Odin she recruits the help of Thor's adoptive brother Loki.
