A huge travesty may have some devastating effects on the hero Moon Knight, but it seems as though Marvel is content glossing over it. Fantastic Four: Reckoning War Alpha #1 kicks off the event with Earth's moon being destroyed by the Badoon. The one hero who is more connected to the satellite than anyone else should be drastically effected by the events, but instead, readers have yet to see how this lunar destruction is affecting Moon Knight.
Marc Spector, aka Moon Knight, first appeared in Werewolf By Night #32 and was created by Doug Moench and Don Perlin. Mortally wounded on a mission during his time as a mercenary, Spector was saved by Khonshu, the Egyptian god of the moon. Acting as his personal avatar and warrior, Spector defends the travelers of the night from the forces of evil, with power imbued to him by the moon.

Which makes it all the more tragic that the Marvel Universe's Earth is currently without a moon. Fantastic Four: Reckoning War Alpha #1 by Dan Slot, Carlos Pacheco, Rafael Fonteriz, Carlos Magno, Guru-eFX, and Joe Caramagna starts off with a literal bang as a Badoon ship annihilates the moon in an attempt to kill the Watcher. The attack has immediate and serious repercussions as pieces begin to rain down on New York and Marvel heroes scramble to save their city from the fallout. Though a number of heroes are considering what the lack of a moon will mean for the future, the one character who should care more than anyone is conspicuously absent during the chaos.
