The list of characters Sony is allowed to use for their upcoming X-Men video games has been leaked.
Of course, as you should know by now, this information is one of many details that has gone public as a result of the Insomniac ransomware hack. Much of this information is now public and widely known, but if you still would prefer not to get this information you can stop reading here.
We will share the whole list below, as dropped online by Twitter user zvis_ceral. But we’ll describe what we saw after perusing the list.
First things first, Marvel has separated the list into three; one is for X-Men Family Restricted Characters, one for X-Men Unrestricted Characters, and one for Additional Marvel Characters.
While the list refers to each entry as characters, some of the items refer to ideas, such as factions, locations, items, and even a comic book storyline or two. Some characters have names shared by others, often for convoluted storyline reasons. For the sake of brevity, we’ve cut down each entry to a name that you can easily search on your own.
The X-Men Unrestricted Characters list is easy to figure out, as it’s the characters from X-Men comics that have already been used for other properties. Think everyone who showed up in Deadpool’s movies. We’ll get back to this in a minute.
The Additional Marvel Characters refer to an even smaller list, of characters who have appeared in X-Men comics, but are not considered X-Men characters. It will likely disappoint readers that not only are the likes of Iron Man and the Guardians of the Galaxy not on this list, but neither is Spider-Man, any of the Spider-Men.
