Bulgarian indie developer Studio Mechka has announced the Marko: Beyond Brave release date, revealing when the mythological Metroidvania is set to release.
The Marko: Beyond Brave release date has been set for September 17, 2024, when the game will launch on PC. In the game, players embark on an adventure as young warrior Marko, who is trying to restore the world to its former glory after entropy has escaped its prison and began engulfing the world.
The game is based on various Slavic myths and is hand-drawn in a traditional 2D frame-by-by style. Locations in the game include lush forests, decaying castles, crumbling monuments, and more. Enemies in the game are also inspired by various Slavic legends, including Vila, Koz’el, Urgl, Vlashko, and the Tree of Life. Throughout the game, players will be able to team up with creatures and other people, as well as craft and upgrade various weapons they find throughout their adventure.
“In Marko: Beyond Brave, entropy has escaped its prison and threatens to engulf the world,” reads the game’s official description. “Step into the shoes of titular protagonist Marko, a young warrior who uncovers a secret power hidden within. Armed with a large greatsword and an even bigger mustache, Marko will brave ancient evils, battle mythical creatures, and forge powerful alliances to restore balance.”
