20th Century Studios has officially announced the Hulu release date for the latest installment to the Planet of the Apes reboot franchise. This comes after over two months since the epic drama had made its theatrical debut.
Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes will be available for streaming on Hulu starting on Friday, August 2. While waiting for the newest sequel, fans can watch the complete Planet of the Apes franchise, including the 1970s adaptations.
During its theatrical run, the film earned a gross of over $376 million at the global box office and is currently holding a Certified Fresh rating of 80% on Rotten Tomatoes.
“Set several generations in the future following Caesar’s reign, apes are living harmoniously as the dominant species — and humans have been reduced to living in the shadows,” reads the synopsis. “As a new tyrannical ape leader builds his empire, one young ape undertakes a harrowing journey that will cause him to question all that he has known about the past and to make choices that will define a future for apes and humans alike.”
The film was directed by Wes Ball from a screenplay by Josh Friedman. It stars Owen Teague as Noa, Freya Allen as Nova, Kevin Durand as Proximus Caesar, Peter Macon as Raka, and William H. Macy as Trevathan. The film is produced by Ball, Joe Hartwick Jr, Rick Jaffa, Amanda Silver, and Jason Reed, with Peter Chernin and Jenno Topping executive producing.
