Sony had been trying to get an Uncharted movie off the ground for years. At one point in its development, Mark Wahlberg was set to play iconic PlayStation hero Nathan Drake. But as the project endured a series of setbacks and delayed, it went in a new direction with Tom Holland cast as the adventurer. Wahlberg stayed on board, bringing life to Nate's mentor, Victor «Sully» Sullivan instead.
Screen Rant spoke with Wahlberg about Uncharted's long journey to the big screen, his Sully mustache, being allergic to his character's pet cat, and much more.

Screen Rant: I like that you kept the Sully mustache for us press.
Mark Wahlberg: Yeah, you know, it's that. It's in honor of my dad. It's possibly for a new role coming up. I'm digging it. It's driving everybody else crazy. My wife was like, «Oh, my God, what is that?» And now she's just… she doesn't say anything anymore. I don't know if she likes it. But she's gotten used to it.
The Uncharted games. They're so beloved. I love them. Where does this role rank in terms of just pressure that you felt in terms of knowing how much fans love it? Where does Uncharted rank?
Mark Wahlberg: Well, there is that. There is the kind of pressure when you're playing a true story, especially if there was some sort of tragic event. That's pressure. But yes, these diehard fans that are, you know, gamers, people who are into comics and that stuff. I mean, they will hunt you down. If you don't get it right, you're in big, big trouble. So we were always aware of that. We wanted to really honor them. But we also wanted to figure out, because the game itself is so cinematic and so story-driven, how do we then also introduce this to people who aren't
