WARNING: Spoilers ahead for Uncharted
Uncharted director Ruben Fleischer is explaining the movie's two post-credit scenes. The action-adventure film is based on Naughty Dog's popular video game series of the same name, one that has seen widespread acclaim and commercial success since its 2007 debut. Fleischer had previously discussed the challenges that come with adapting outside source materials and credited the games for having impressive setpieces and action sequences that helped inform the film. The adaptation follows Nathan Drake and Victor Sullivan, two treasure hunters in a race against a corrupt billionaire and his hired mercenary squad to find and recover a fortune lost 500 years ago. It stars Tom Holland, Mark Wahlberg, Sophia Ali, Tati Gabrielle, and Antonio Banderas.
Any audience members patient enough to stay through the film's credits will be treated to two additional scenes that suggest a potential sequel might be in store. The first reveals that Nathan's brother, Sam, previously presumed dead, is actually alive. It shows him preparing postcards for Nathan while in prison, continuing to offer his brother tips about hidden treasures. The second post-credits scene gave fans of the games a version of Wahlberg's Sullivan that is more reminiscent of the original Uncharted. When Wahlberg was cast, many pointed out how different the actor looked from his video game counterpart, one major reason being the fact he was missing his signature mustache. This scene, however, addressed that complaint by seeing Wahlberg show up, fully mustachioed, and sparking a humorous moment between him and Holland's Nathan.
