The recently released film sees Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg (as Nathan Drake and his partner and mentor, Sully) head out across the globe while in search of an ancient treasure. While the film does end on a relatively definitive note, there are two very important post-credits scenes that pop up after the film ends, and not only do they set up future installments of the film, they also look to be following a few important beats that the game series themselves have made.
The first post-credits scene occurs right after the film’s ending title appears, with the camera taking the audience through a prison before settling in on one inmate who is scribbling something down. That prisoner is revealed to be none other than Sam Drake, brother of Nathan Drake who Nathan perceives to be dead by the time this scene occurs.
Sam is not only alive, however, but is seen writing a warning message to Nathan on a postcard (items that Sam has been sending to Nathan throughout the film) that he should not trust someone. It’s unknown exactly who Sam is referring to or even who is playing Sam, as the character is covered in shadows and longer hair as to obscure their face.
The second post-credits scene opens with Nate sitting at a table in a bar with a man named Gage, who works for a man named Roman. Nathan is there to trade his iconic ring necklace for a “nazi map,” but is quickly double-crossed and finds himself at gunpoint, with Gage taking everything.
However, things work out as Mark Wahlberg’s Sully appears, sporting his signature mustache and Hawaiian shirt, to save his friend, who takes the map and necklace back before running out of the bar and abruptly stopping, as an unseen person appears in front of them.
