Super Mario Bros. Wonder players have gone to town modding the game, but two of the best mods are ones that make Sonic the Hedgehog and Kirby playable.
Mario games are certainly no stranger to mods (no matter how much it must annoy Nintendo), but Super Mario Bros. Wonder is on another level. Thanks to the game's data being leaked, mods for Wonder started hitting the internet a whole week before it had even officially launched, and things have only kept snowballing from there now that it's in everyone's hands.
As you'd expect from the internet, one of the earliest and most interesting mods for Super Mario Bros. Wonder is one that makes the Talking Flower say a bunch of swear words. I'm sure Nintendo is a big fan of that one.
GameBanana is already full of a ton of different mods for Super Mario Bros. Wonder, but by far the most popular ones are skin swaps that let you play as pretty much anyone you can imagine. Yes, even Wallace from Wallace and Gromit. I could probably talk all day about some of the strange character mods that have popped up, but two of the best ones that I've seen so far at least make a little bit of sense.
The first mod is one from Twitter user GhostsSoup that turns everyone's favourite plumber into his eternal rival, Sonic the Hedgehog - the classic version of Sonic, to be precise. GhostsSoup shared a video of the mod in action over on Twitter, and it's surprising just how well Sonic fits into the world of Super Mario Bros. Wonder. Bonus points for including Tails as Sonic's alternative to the Glide Cap.
