Wizards of the Coast just released its December 2024 update to the banned cards list. The announcement was made on December 16 and the update goes into effect immediately, impacting only a few play formats. Although a handful of cards appeared in the update, it makes significant changes to certain decks. The list also includes the ban of a specific special card that went unacknowledged in play formats for over a year.
The update from Wizards of the Coast not only includes the ban of certain cards, but it also announces the unban of some, bringing them back into legal play. Like the newly banned cards, only a few cards have been brought back and are allowed to be played again. This only affects one format, however, but may not see any changes in the future due to the way the specific format works. With this interesting update, the releases of 2024 are being wrapped up with a finalization to their gameplay.
Five cards in total have entered the banned list for legal play in. The most notable on the list is The One Ring from , the infamous card that only has one copy in existence.
