Netflix is expanding the Season 2 cast with the addition of three new actors set play key characters in the next installment of the hit live-action adaptation. This includes Rigo Sanchez (Outerbanks), who has been tapped to portray the role of Luffy’s mysterious father Monkey D. Dragon, who, in the original manga series, is known as the leader of the Revolutionary Army.
Besides Sanchez, Yonda Thomas (Redemption) and James Hiroyuki Liao (Presumed Innocent) have also been cast in One Piece Season 2 for the respective roles of Igaram and Ipponmatsu. In the original manga and anime, Igaram was introduced as Princess Vivi’s loyal guard who accompanied her during an undercover mission. Meanwhile, Ipponmatsu is expected to be introduced during the Loguetown arc as the arms shop owner who will give Zoro his new swords.
The live-action adaptation of Eiichiro Oda’s beloved manga series is led by Iñaki Godoy as Monkey D. Luffy, Mackenyu as Roronoa Zoro, Emily Rudd as Nami, Jacob Romero Gibson as Usopp, and Taz Skylar as Sanji. The show is written and executive produced by Steven Maeda (The X-Files) and Matt Owens (Agents of SHIELD), with Owens and Joe Tracz set as the showrunners for Season 2.
Season 2 will feature the Straw Hats finally venturing into the dangerous and unusual seas of the Grand Line. The next installment will also introduce new characters, including Joe Manganiello as Crocodile/Mr. 0, Lera Abova as Miss All Sunday/ Nico Robin, Charithra Chandran as Miss Wednesday/ Princess Vivi, Sendhil Ramamurthy as Nefertari Cobra, Katey Sagal as Dr. Kureha, David Dastmalchian as Mr. 3, Camrus Johnson as Mr. 5, Jazzara Jaslyn as Miss Valentine, Daniel Lasker as Mr. 9, Werner Coetser as Dorry, Brendan Murray as Brogy, Clive Russell as Crocus, Callum Kerr as Smoker, Julia Rehwald as Tashigi, Rob Colletti as Wapol, Ty Keogh as Dalton, Mark Harelik as Dr. Hiriluk, and more.
