October 20 was supposed to be the day Dune 2 hit cinemas. Strikes in Hollywood have prevented that from happening and we won't be getting the blockbuster sequel until 2024. While a lot of what was planned for its release can be moved, some things that have already been set in motion simply cannot be changed. Toys linked to the movie's release, for example. Pre-orders for Lego's new Ornithopter Set are now open, presumably because people were initially going to have been seeing the movie right about now.
Lego revealed its Ornithopter set on social media today, providing a link to its page at the Lego store so you can place your pre-order. The good news for those who want to build the set around the same time they see the sequel is even though pre-orders are now open, the set won't actually be with you until February 1, 2024. That gives you just six weeks to hold off on building it while the set is in your home tempting you as Dune 2 is currently slated to be here on March 15, 2024.

That's providing it doesn't get delayed again of course which, while likely, we shouldn't think about right now. Let's just focus on what is an incredibly cool new set based on a vehicle from the movie courtesy of Lego. Made up of 1,369 pieces, the Dune Ornithopter set is one of the many Lego sets geared towards adults. There's no reason you can't get the kids involved, of course, but they might need you to take the lead on this one.
