The Obsidian Fieldlands is the first major area that players can explore in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, and there are a ton of Pokémon roaming this region of Hisui for players to catch and research. After receiving their Satchel and a couple of Poké Balls from the Galaxy Expedition Team, players will be ready to set off on their journey to fill Hisui’s ancient Pokédex, completing Missions and Requests along the way. However, Pokémon Legends: Arceus’ semi-open world brings a lot of new changes to the Pokémon series, and players will now have to study and catch Pokémon that are free to roam through the wilds of the Hisui Region.
Instead of wandering through tall grass in hopes of encountering a Pokémon, trainers must now approach Pokémon strategically and use the right items and battle techniques to capture them successfully. Each species of Pokémon has its own temperament inPokémon Legends: Arceus, which affects how they react when they spot a trainer approaching. Some Pokémon will run away, some will attack aggressively, and others will ignore the trainer altogether. In addition to throwing Poké Balls, players can use a variety of helpful items like Berries and Smoke Bombs to make wild Pokémon easier to catch, leading to dozens of potential strategies that players can rely on when approaching Pokémon.
