Legacies showrunner Brett Matthews talks about where the series would've gone in its fifth season, had it not been abruptly canceled by The CW. A spinoff of The Originals, which itself is a spinoff of The Vampire Diaries, Legacies completed four seasons with a total of 68 episodes, airing its finale on June 16. The series starred Danielle Rose Russell, Aria Shahghasemi, Jenny Boyd, Quincy Fouse, and Matt Davis.
Legacies followed Hope Mikaelson (Russell,) a descendant from a powerful supernatural bloodline, as she attends Salvatore School for the Young and Gifted, a school where supernatural beings learn to control their abilities. Legacies'abrupt cancelation comes from the potential selling of The CW since the network decided to offload much of its programming to make it look more attractive to buyers. Other shows including Batwoman, Legends of Tomorrow, Dynasty, and Charmed got the ax as well.
