Doctor Robotnik is back to rain down more chaos in Sonic The Hedgehog 2, which is out in theaters April 8, and he's brought his trusty sidekick Agent Stone (Lee Majdoub, The 100) along for the ride. They're not the only ones to return, of course, as Sonic (Ben Schwartz, Parks and Recreation) and Tom (James Marsden, Westworld) are closer than ever in the sequel. Plus, Sonic's furry friend Tails (played by voice actor Colleen O'Shaughnessey) and his nemesis Knuckles (Idris Elba, The Suicide Squad) also join the fun.
We spoke to Majdoub about working alongside the iconic Jim Carrey, though it may be for the last time, and coming full circle when it comes to video game fandoms after having once starred in his own fanmade Pokemon trailer.

I want to back it all the way up, because we've never done an interview. I became familiar with you when you did this fanmade live action Pokémon trailer where you played Ash Ketchum, and I thought it was so brilliant. Is it weirdly serendipitous to do a movie like this now that these types of movies are actually being made?
Lee Majdoub: It's wild, right? Where it started. We did that trailer that fan made dark, gritty Pokemon underworld trailer 13 years ago. I think it was something like that. And to look at everything now — to look at all the superhero movies, the video game movies — it's a total pinch myself moment. It's very surreal.
And for it to be Sonic, in particular, for me is a big deal. Because that game — Sonic 2 -for me was the video game growing up.
