Prime Video has shared two first-look pictures at the new Rockford Peaches in their upcoming reboot series A League of Their Own. A League of Their Own, which is now a media franchise in its own right, began as a 1992 Penny Marshall film starring Tom Hanks, Geena Davis, Madonna, and Lori Petty, loosely adapting the true story of the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League, which was created in the early 1940s. A television adaptation of the story was rushed to the screen the following year, starring Sam McMurray, Carey Lowell, and Christine Elise (who has recently been seen reprising the role of Kyle on the Chuckytelevision series), but it only lasted five episodes with the final one remaining unaired.
Now that enough time has passed, Prime Video is stepping up to the plate with a new series adaptation of A League of Their Own, which will premiere on the streaming service later this year. The series was co-created by Abbi Jacobson and Will Graham and stars Jacobson alongside Nick Offerman, Lil Frex, Roberta Colindrez, Kate Berlant, Rae Gray, D’Arcy Carden, Melanie Field, and Molly Ephraim. This show, which will also tell stories more specific to the experiences of LGBTQ+ folks and people of color during the time, will also include a storyline about Black ballplayer Max Chapman, played by Chanté Adams, who recently starred opposite Michael B. Jordan in Denzel Washington's A Journal for Jordan.
