Creed 3 should repeat Rocky III's Apollo Creed story by giving his role to Ivan Drago's son, Viktor. Ever since the Rocky franchise was revitalized with Creed, the sequel series has struck a great balance between creating its own story and following in the footsteps of what came before it. However, Creed 3 looks to be a bit more separate from the original Rocky movies, as Sylvester Stallone isn't expected to return as Rocky Balboa. The highly anticipated 2022 sequel could still borrow some ideas from his prior movies, though.
Story details for Creed 3 are mostly under wraps, but what is known is that the movie revolves around Adonis Creed (Michael B. Jordan) fighting a new opponent played by Jonathan Majors. There will be some other familiar faces appearing in the sequel, as Florian Munteanu is also officially returning as Viktor Drago. He was the main villain in Creed II and fought Adonis a few times during the movie. The return of Ivan Drago's son for Creed 3 is a bit surprising since the last film left him and Adonis on good terms and had him return to Russia. But since Viktor is returning for Creed 3, it opens up a fun possibility for him to become the franchise's new Apollo Creed.
