There are multiple theories about the villain of Creed 3 and the identity of Jonathan Majors' character. The Rocky franchise was given a new life in 2015 when director Ryan Coogler made Creed with Michael B. Jordan starring as Apollo Creed's son, Adonis. While Sylvester Stallone's Rocky Balboa returned for the first two movies, Creed 3 is expected to be a bit more standalone from the original films without the return of the Italian Stallion. Instead, Creed 3 will actually be directed by Michael B. Jordan, with Adonis facing new challenges and a new opponent played by Jonathan Majors.
Adonis Creed has faced a handful of other fighters during the first two Creed movies. «Pretty» Ricky Conlan was the main villain in the first film, while Adonis' career overlapped with Rocky's past in Creed II as he fought Ivan Drago's son, Viktor. There have been other fights as Adonis accumulated a 25-1 record and became the Heavyweight World Champion. Jonathan Majors' Creed 3 villain is so far a massive mystery for the sequel's story, though. The only real tease about how his character factors into Adonis' arc is that he's said to have a more personal story. Majors teased his character's involvement by saying, «It's he and I. It's a story about these two men trying to work something out, and it's very different from the others.» It is through this lens that a more intimate story is on the horizon, built around Creed 3's villain.
